Dr. Wassim Salamoun

Biography
Wassim Salamoun was born in Lebanon in 1952, with biographical references identifying Machghara as his birthplace. He earned his medical degree from the University of Bordeaux and completed medical and surgical training in Moncton, Halifax, and Pittsburgh.
He began practising as an otolaryngologist at Prince County Hospital in Summerside in 1989. He served as the hospital’s Medical Director from 2006 to 2015 and later continued in medical leadership at the hospital and across western Prince Edward Island until his retirement in 2022.
He received community and professional awards for his medical service and ethical conduct and volunteered with Mercy Ships surgical missions. On 17 October 2024 he was sworn in as Lieutenant Governor of Prince Edward Island and representative of the Crown in the province.
