Hussein Hassan Mansour
Former Lebanese politician, MP, and ministerA businessman and politician connected to Machghara who served multiple parliamentary terms and held ministerial responsibilities.
Biography
Hussein Hassan Mansour was born in 1915 and received his early education in Machghara before entering commerce and business. He contributed to the establishment of Beirut-Riyadh Bank and served as its president and general manager for many years.
He entered politics and was elected to parliament in 1960, 1964, 1968, and 1972. He continued serving during the parliamentary extensions of the civil-war period and participated in committees covering defence, public works, the economy, tourism, and foreign affairs.
Mansour served as a minister without portfolio in 1960 and was appointed Minister of General Planning in 1969. He died in 1995 and was buried in Machghara.
He was born in Rashaya to a family from Machghara. In addition to banking, he was a shareholder and partner in economic and land-development companies, including the Ibrahim Company and the Land and Water Development Company.
He remained a member of parliament until 1992 under the wartime extensions of the legislature and served on committees concerned with defence, public works, the economy, tourism, and foreign affairs.
