Biography
Fawwaz Traboulsi is a Lebanese historian, writer, and researcher. He studied at the American University of Beirut and the School of Oriental and African Studies in London and earned a doctorate in history from the University of Paris. His career has included journalism, publishing, cultural and political activity, and the teaching of history and political science at Lebanese universities.
He has written numerous books and studies on modern Lebanon, the Arab region, political thought, and culture. His best-known works include A History of Modern Lebanon: From the Emirate to the Taif Agreement. He also founded the intellectual review Bidayat and has served on cultural and research advisory bodies.
In 2004 he published Ya Qamar Machghara: Patronage, Economy, and Sectarian Balance, drawing on a Traboulsi family archive to examine the town’s social, economic, and political history.
