Dear fellow Machgarani............. To every person who loves Machghara, to
our teachers, and leaders with all the respect to your royality, we are your
students and your sons, you should open your heart and open your chest to us,
isn't the democracy what you taught us? isn't the freedom what we learned from
you? isn't the resistance what you asked us to fight for? isn't our city future
what we are electing? we respect your agreement and we want you to know we are
not eliminating any parties from our town, we are not deleting any families, we
are not forcing ourselves on anybody. What we believe in, is teamwork, and
effort to re-build our beautiful Machghara. This teamwork has a plan to
construct the new Machgara, this plan involves every person who lives in our
town, and the ones all over the world from our town, this plan will draw a map
for the next six years. This map will show our city council members step by step
the work that should be done to achieve the educational goal. Ms Mona Younes
pointed out some issues in her academic study of the industry of Machghara.
These issues are stated on page (Problems) in that study. To resolve these
issues each Machgarani that lives around the world should help by being an
ambassador to Machgara's industry, and promote Machgara's well being. To open a
new market for our industry around the world, and to find new technology tools
to help speed up the process of labor, and make a larger capacity of our
tanneries to be able to compete with the same industry in Europe.

حفل تكريم للسيد ناصر نصرالله المدير العام لمصلحة الليطاني بمناسبة بلوغه سن التقاعد.ا
أقامت نقابة المصلحة الوطنية لنهر الليطاني نهار الجمعة الماضي الساعة الثانية بعد الظهر في مطعم أوتار في الوسط التجاري لبيروت حفل تكريم للسيد ناصر نصرالله المدير العام لمصلحة الليطاني بمناسبة بلوغه سن التقاعد وألقى كلمة بالمناسبة كل من رئيس النقابة السيد احمد حرقوص والمهندس حسين رمال والسيد ميشال يمين واللذين نوهوا بجهود السيد نصرالله تجاه المصلحة والمشاريع المقامة والمرتقبة متمنين له الصحة والسعادة.ا
وكذلك ألقى السيد نصرالله كلمة شكر مشددا على اكمال المسيرة بالروحية ذاتها بتعيين المهندس علي عبود مديرا عاما للمصلحة منوها بالمستوى العلمي الرفيع اللذي يتميز به السيد عبود والجدية المعهودة في شخصيتها.ا

كمدير عام، رئيس لمجلس إدارة المصلحة الوطنية لنهر الليطاني
فاض نـهر الخـير دَفقاً فارتوى من سواقيه نباتٌ وبشَـــرْ
واستحـال اليَبْسُ في قَفْرٍ خَوى غُنَّ جنّاتٍ على مَدِّ النظــر
وتمادى العشبُ غضاً واسـتوى واشرأبّت عند جـنبَيه الشجر
وشدا الطيرُ على لـحنِ الرِوى مُسكِراً تغريدُهُ أُذْنَ السَــحَر
وامتطى العشّاق صَهْواتِ الهوى واستبيحت فوق شـطَّيه العُذَر
فاستكان الشوق فـي قلبٍ غَوى يا شبابَ الروح يا سِـرَّ العمُرْ
وسرى النورُ بأســلاكٍ، أوى كل بيتٍ في البوادي والحَضر
فاستفاق العقل بالعــلم اقتوى بَدّدَ الظَلماءَ والجهلُ انحسَـر
جاء عبدُ العال يوماً حالمــاً بسـدودٍ من ترابٍ وحــجر
لاختزان الماء يُضـحي ثروةً للبـلادِ قبــل أن يلقى البَحَر
يستـحيلُ السهلُ بســـتاناً مُرَوّى مؤتياً أشـهى الثَــمر
يســتفيق التلُّ في الأصباح مزدانــاً بآيــات الصـور
حَضنَ القرعونُ في وهـدته بَحرةً خـلاّبةً بين البُـــحُر
فوقها مـشغرةٌ ســهـّارةٌ مسـتضيءٌ ليلُها نورَ القمـر
خِيرةٌ من أهلها غَيرى عـلى أن يُصـان النهرُ كَرّاماً أغرّ
أن يدوم المــاء فيهِ سَلْسَلاً قطرُه الصـافي كحبات الدُرَر
فاندفِق يا نهرُ سيّـــاباً وكُنْ مورِداً للرزق والشعبُ افتــقَر
في جنوبٍ قاومت أبطالُـــه عادياً خاض الوغى حتى اندحر
في جنوبٍ صار فيه كل صخرٍ عبوةً تغتــــال عِبريًا عَبَر
طامعاً في أرضنا، في مائنـا، ما ارعوى مَن ربُّه المالُ المَجَر
ما بلوغُ السنِّ يُنْئي ناصــراً كيف ينأى ذا الشريفُ المقتدِر
عن جهـــادٍ في سبيل الماءِ كي يسقي الأهـــالي والقَفَر
كيف ينأى والعدى لـم يبرحوا ساح كَــيدٍ ليس يُبقي أو يَذِر

عن اللائحة التوافقية في مشغرة
جاءنا من داود الصايغ مستشار رئيس الحكومة رفيق الحريري الآتي:ا
عطفا على ما ورد في <<السفير>> في عددها الصادر يوم الإثنين 3 أيار 2004 وفي الصفحة 11 بقلم شوقي الحاج تحت عنوان <<لائحة ثانية في مشغرة>>، وبأن التشكيلة التوافقية رعاها مستشار رئيس الحكومة داود الصايغ ومسؤول حزب الله في البقاع الغربي الشيخ محمد حمادي، اود ان اوضح ما يلي:ا
ان اللائحة التوافقية في مشغرة ولدت نتيجة جهود طويلة ومكثفة اشتركت فيها جميع فعاليات البلدة، حرصا على اعطاء الوفاق وجه العيش المشترك بعد كل ما عانته البلدة في سنوات الحرب، وبعدما استثنيت من انتخابات عام 1998 البلدية فتوافق الرأي بين المطران سليم غزال والوزير الأسبق سليمان طرابلسي والدكتور حسن عواضة والقيادي الحزبي جورج البطل والسيد ناصر نصر الله، مع مسؤولي حزب الله وحركة أمل والحزب القومي والحزب الشيوعي والحزب الاشتراكي وحزب البعث (وجميعهم ممثلون في اللائحة التوافقية) على الصيغة التي ظهرت في اللائحة وهي مؤلفة في غالبيتها الساحقة من أبناء مشغرة المقيمين فيها. وبالتالي فقد تحقق أكبر قدر ممكن من التوافق لاخراج هذه اللائحة الى النور، التي اعتبرت انجازا تاريخيا على صعيد البلدة التي أجمعت فعالياتها على الجمع وتدعيم العيش المشترك والتوجه نحو تلبية حاجات البلدة وإنمائها بعد سنوات طويلة من الاهمال.ا
وإذا كان هنالك من لم يكن راضيا عن اعلان اللائحة التوافقية، فلأن التوافق هو اصلا عملية صعبة، تتطلب التضحية وتضافر الجهود والتعالي عن المصالح الضيقة التي ترافق أحيانا هذا النوع من الانتخابات. وكنا ولا نزال نود ان تنجح الجهود لاقناع غير الراضين بالالتفاف حول اللائحة التوافقية، ليس مسا بالممارسة الديموقراطية، بل في سبيل اعطاء هذا التوافق المشغري، الذي لا سابق له، حظه في النجاح، في سبيل خدمة مشغرة.ا
فالتوافق ليس تعليبا، إنما هو ثمرة حوار مسؤول وتفاهم واحترام متبادلين، ورحابة هي على قدر ما تحمل مشغرة في تراثها النبيل من مكونات الانفتاح والعطاء والكرم والكرامة.
وان جميع الذين اشتركوا في تلك الجهود إنما فعلوا ذلك بتجرد مطلق بصفتهم أبناء مشغرة أولا، وبصرف النظر عن المسؤولية او الموقع السياسي لكل منهم.ا

لائحة ثانية في مشغرة
لم تستطع بلدة مشغرة في البقاع الغربي أن تتجنب المعركة الانتخابية، رغم توافق فاعلياتها وقواها السياسية والحزبية على تشكيل لائحة مكتملة، من 18 عضواً، تتمثل فيها الطائفة المسيحية بثمانية أعضاء، والطائفة الشيعية بعشرة أعضاء.ا
هذه التشكيلة التي رعاها مستشار الرئيس الحريري الدكتور داوود الصايغ، ومسؤول <<حزب الله>> في البقاع الغربي الشيخ محمد حمادي، الى جانب فاعليات أخرى، واعتبرت توافقية، لم تلق التأييد الكامل من ابناء مشغرة، على الأقل من شريحة لا يستهان بثقلها الانتخابي، من المقيمين، من الطائفتين المسيحية والشيعية، باعتبارها جاءت بقرار معلب، من دون الأخذ بالإمكانيات والكفاءات المقيمة التي يجب أن تعطى الأفضلية، حفاظاً على تضحياتهم وصبرهم، كما قال رئيس اللائحة المنافسة المهندس يوسف محمد يونس خلال إعلان لائحته التي أطلق عليها تسمية لائحة <<القرار والإنماء>> (قالوا انهم يتميزون عن اللائحة الثانية بانهم يقيمون في مشغرة)، بحيث تألفت من أحد عشر عضواً بينهم ثلاثة من المسيحيين، وثمانية من الشيعة وهم الى جانب يونس: جودت قيصر إبراهيم، محفوظ عباس محفوظ، محمد حسن يوسف، يوسف علي بجيجه، عامر علي غزالة، علي كامل شرف، محمد كامل العمار، إيلي سليم بارود، حيدر علي سرحان، شادي نقولا الغزال.ا
ومع انفراط طبخة التوافق تتجه بلدة مشغرة الى معركة انتخابية حامية بين اللائحتين المتنافستين، في حال لم تتوصل المساعي التي يتولاها الدكتور حسن عواضة مع يونس وجودت إبراهيم الى نتيجة حاسمة بشأن العزوف عن الترشح، خلال المهلة القانونية التي تنتهي عند الثانية عشرة من منتصف هذه الليلة

First I want to apologize for not writing to you in French because my French
is not good enough. I hope that your English is better than my French so you
may understand. Although fluent in Arabic, my computer does not have the
capability to do so in Arabic.
About my problems..... Yes I'm the first to admit that I have many problems,
but they pale in comparison to yours. You state that you are a man.... and not
a woman.... Well, "MY BAD" and you sure could have fooled me. Usually "MEN"
throughout history have been known as brave and willing to sacrifice for their
ideology, the men I know are for the most part always willing to give up their
lives for what they believe in. As for you, I question your manhood since you
are not willing to tell us who you are... As a matter of a fact you opened
another e-mail account under my name to use and send e-mails....
First you were
hiding behind your computer screen, now you are hiding behind a woman you don't
even know. That is called "coward ness" "Jabaneh in Arabic" "couard en
Français".
Secondly, you want to know what my problem with "le docteur
Ga3ga3". Murdering my aunt's husband, rendering her a widow at the age of 26
and making orphans of her 3 children when "le docteur" decided to blow up the
church that my uncle was praying in. Is that reason good enough for the
problem???? That is on the personal level. On the political level... What has
Ga3ga3 done for Lebanon? For the Christians? For other leaders? For anyone?
What is his ideology? What is his vision? Killing, Tony Frengiyeh? Killing
the Sham3ouns? Killing Muslims? Torturing and killing Palestinians and Syrians?
So he can become boss at the expense of everyone else and you included????
Oh... Yes... He's going to liberate us from all the other groups and sects....
The Syrians, Palestinians, Kurds, all foreigners, the Sunnis, the Shiites,
other Christians who don't see it his way... That seems to be many problems, for
you and Ga3ga3 you both share. Yes indeed... The most pressing problem now is
to get him out of his rat hole where he is, then many are anxious for his
release to settle the score. My dear Machgharani who claims to be a man not a
"petite fille" "I still have my doubts though" the fact is that you have become

are trying to bring the best public worker to our municipality, it does not
matter what is that person's religion, all of us are the Sons & Daughters of
Adam & Eve. Please respect your self, and throw all the hate behind your back,

نعم، على المستوى السياسي كانت هذه الانتخابات كارثة لأنها فضحت ما تخبئه النفوس من استكبار ورفض للآخر، فمسائيل الاحزاب النوابغ رضيوا ان يصير المواطن المشغراني المسلم من الدرجة الثانية بخلاف اي قانون او شرع، فقط تحت ضغط المقاطعة ، أي مستقبل نبني بهذا المنطق ؟ وأي تعايش؟ وأي انصهار؟ هل هو انصهار ديننا الذي يريدوننا أن نتخلى عنه لكي يحق لنا برئاسة بلدية؟ أم أنه انصهار لاحترامنا لأنفسنا وجعلها وضيعة أمام نفوس الآخرين وتحت امرتهم؟ والله لا نرضى لأنفسنا الا ما نرضاه لغيرنا ولا نرضى لغيرنا الا ما ارتضيناه لأنفسنا

Voters of Machghara
I have read some entries on this Municipality page and I am truly saddened to
read how a historic event in the history of Machghara has been marred and turned
into a fight.
I was not born or raised in Machghara, but have grown to love it through my
family, most in particularly my uncle, Salem Gazal.
He is no longer with us, but would have probably said the same thing that I will
now.
In order for Machghara to grow, all Machgharani need to work together, for the
benefit of the town and not personal gain.
Few of you know me, for I seldom get to travel to Machghara, but I believe that
all parties need to unite and follow a common goal, leaving all this infighting
behind.
The outcome of these elections will have little effect on my life, as I live on
the other side of the world, but the future of the beloved birthplace of my
family is in your hands.
Don't be swayed by the way our families have traditionally voted, don't be
swayed by personal gain, don't be swayed on secular lines, when casting your
vote do what you feel is best for Machghara and leave it in God's hands.

على أثر تهميش العائلات الكبرى في مشغرة من قبل بعض الأفراد الذين ضربوا بالوفاق عرض الحائط في تشكيلهم لائحة سُميّت بلائحة الوفاق والانصهار الوطني ، قرر الأستاذ يوسف محمد يونس والسيد جودت قيصر إبراهيم إعادة الكرامة إلى أبناء مشغرة عبر تشكيلهما للائحة الكرامة ؛ وهي مؤلفة من : السيد جودت قيصر إبراهيم -رئيساً , الأستاذ يوسف محمد يونس -نائب رئيس , والأعضاء وهم : السيد محفوظ محفوظ, السيّد عامر علي غزالي, الدكتور محمّد يوسف سرحال, الدكتور علي كامل شرف, السيد خليل رزق,السيد محمّد كامل العمّار, الحاج علي خليل زَينه, الحاج علي محمّد سرحال, السيد يوسف بجيجي

لائحة توافقية اعلنت في مشغرة
ومنفردون يسعون الى لائحة ثانية
بعد 40 عاما على انتخاب آخر مجلس بلدي تستعد بلدة مشغرة في البقاع الغربي لانطلاقة جديدة تمحو عنها آثار الحرب مع مجلس جديد تعذر انتخابه عام 1998 بسبب واقع التهجير الذي كان سائدا آنذاك.
وقد اعلن امس عن لائحة توافقية حملت عنوان "لائحة الوفاء والانصهار الوطني" لتؤكد بحسب الدكتور داود الصايغ على تاريخ مشغرة الحافل بمحطات مضيئة في العيش الواحد وفي التضامن وفي الوفاء لهذا التاريخ الذي عكرته قليلا اعوام الحرب كما حصل في معظم المناطق اللبنانية.ا
وجاءت اللائحة التوافقية ثمرة اتفاق بين "حزب الله" و"أمل" والقومي والشيوعي والاشتراكي والبعث والمسيحيين والمستقلين. وتوزعت مقاعدها بثمانية اعضاء للمسيحيين بينهم الرئيس الذي حفظه التوافق لطائفة الروم الكاثوليك كما كان سابقا رغم بعض التبدل الديموغرافي الذي حصل في البلدة منذ الستينات، وعشرة اعضاء لابناء الطائفة الشيعية بينهم نائب الرئيس.ا
وقد اعلن عن اللائحة امس في حسينية البلدة وتألفت من جورج الدبس رئيسا، عبد الله هدلا نائبا للرئيس، والاعضاء: قاسم مزاحم، ايلي كرم، نزيه عواضة، حسن محفوظ، دلال ناصيف، جان بركة، بسام الحجار، منير محيدلي، رضوان ابرهيم، عاطف الصايغ، عباس رضا، حبيب طرابلسي، حسن عقل شرف، زكريا قاسم، عاطف ابرهيم، زهير بيز.ا
وقدم لاعلان اللائحة مسؤول "حزب الله" في البقاع الغربي الشيخ محمد حمادي الذي اشاد بنجاح المساعي التي بذلت لحفظ التوازنات وتمثيل كل القوى السياسية والحزبية والعائلية التي تمثل الاهالي.ا
يذكر ان عددا من المرشحين الذين لم تتسع لهم لائحة التوافق يجهدون لاعلان لائحة ثانية لا تحظى بدعم اي من الاحزاب، كذلك لم تتأمن لها التغطية المسيحية حتى اليوم، خصوصا بعدما دخل النائب البطريركي للروم الكاثوليك المطران سليم غزال على خط التوافق وامن الغطاء والدعم للائحة الاولى. وتخوف البعض من لجوء المرشحين المنفردين الى الدفع في اتجاه المعركة الانتخابية مما يهدد التوازنات القائمة اذا لم يلتزم جميع الناخبين الاتفاق المعلن.ا
اما المختارون فقد ترشح لمشغرة التحتا عادل العمار وسليم مرعي وحيدر محمد سرحان، ولمشغرة الفوقا ادمون شرارة وجبران بولس. وقد تم الاتفاق ايضا على هذا التقاسم الذي يعطي المسلمين ثلاثة مختارين والمسيحيين اثنين. ا

أين الوفاق والانصهار الوطني?. ألا يحق للمسلمين أن يكون لهم مختار في الحارة الفوقا والمسحيين في الحارة التحتا أو أن الخوف من عدم تأمين التوازن الطائفي عند الاثنين, فتم فرض هؤلاء.

Please do me a favor and see what i'm doing. Pls try to understand, the Karameh
list does not represent any "hizb" they are Independent. what you are afraid
from and your question have to answered by people that represent the "ahzab"
which not me. what i'm promoting is to open every eye and ear to vote with
knowledge and no pressure on any person from outsiders. we respect your opinion
and we like to discuss more issues with you but not this moment because now it
is wrong timing, i thank you very much.

Actually I want to be fair. I open this question for all those advocates for Machghara. I challenge anyone, any body to answer me on these issues. The reason as to why I don’t want to be mentioned by name is my family and relatives are still in Machghara and there are no protection for them.

What rights do we have as people of Machghara. Since you seemed very zealous
about who is building what in Machghara, if you think building Machghara is
about fixing sewers, and brick walls, and running water, well you are far from
realities. What about the real issues Mr. Younis. Do you have rights to be
self-evident, are all people created equal in your town, what rights do you
have. Please tell me, how do you secure your rights in Machghara. Let me see I
can educate you on what is a fair elections in a democracy. A healthy democracy
in Machgahra depends in large part on the Machgharanis living in Machghara. If
Mr. Debs wants to run for president, all what you have to do sir is vote “yes”
and “No”. this is the sense. You don’t have to refer to the behaviors,
practices, what your father did or what your uncle did and what other people did
to build Machghara. You are attacking him and this is not fair. What you have
sir in Machgahra is a totalitarian political system. In fact your entire country
is based on this system. What it means Mr. Younis is that the people of
Machghara are not free to pursue their interests, exercise their rights, and
take responsibility for their own lives. Why Mr. Younis? I will tell you why? We
have “Ahzab” and if we don’t run or belong to a certain “Hizeb” you will be
rejected. A democracy regime is the servant of the people, just like what you
have in the States Mr. Younis. People have the capacity to create, sustain, and
improve their lives because they promote education. So I encourage you to keep
your comments to a minimum and leave Mr. Debs alone and his supporters. I think
he is the perfect candidate. Mr. Charara to whom I admire very much is very well
educated on issues of rights and equality.

(( Talking About What Every Person In The Karameh List Have Established For
Machghara))
Today i would like to talk about ( AMER ALI GAZALEH), this hard working man was
born and raised in Machghara with no politician background, Independent build
him and his brother the Gazaleh Furniture factory as all of us knowing, but if
you go back to 1975 and see that person when he was pulling on his back the
100kg of grains for the machgaranian poor people to support their stand, this
person never left the public he is all time in town any person need help Mr.
Gazaleh was their for those people. Mr. Gazaleh helps too many peoples in
machgara, he worked with every public office in town and help them from the Red
Cross of machgara to the local schools it is the time to say thank you Mr.
Gazaleh for your support and the only way to say that by voting for him and the
Karameh list.

Dear Mr. George Debs,
With our respect to your name we believe you should give us some Answers to these questions:
How do you accept this position while you never been to Machghara for the last (30) thirty years ?????? and you don't really know anything about the needs of our village, or is it a pressure by Beirut's creation Machghara's Community (The Packagers Group) sorry to be tuff on you, don't take it personally. We Machgaranians fought for our freedom, belief, and we had experienced in the past with Amine Mansour, he Lived in Beirut and he was the Vice President of our municipality, and every signature we need we have to go to Beirut to get it...
and with the love to the other members of your list some of them we know very well especially the political members. I have to ask them what each of their parties did for Machghara ??
The answer is fighting each other by machine guns, killing each other on our streets.
So it is the time my fellow Machgharani to say NO to any person who wants to play with our kids future, it is the time to stand for the sake of our village.
For the last 31 years we never had chance to say what we want to say, our town needs lots of work, start form the street to the foundation of the sewer, and water to the land which owned by the municipality which fewer people building on, the time came to clean up this town, and refuse any pre-packed Beirutian to run our village.
we have to say Yes to the person who stand up in his position for the last 31 years by himself in our municipality building, solved every problem in the village occurred from 1973 to four years ago, when the county office in Jebjannin took the responsibility to run our municipality office, they took over with big time money and now they are returning the office with 0 money left..... and here is our village to re-build. we want to vote to MR. JAWDAT IBRAHIM because we know him, he's willing to work in our village, YES we want to vote for MR. YOUSSEF YOUNES because we saw what he did in our lovely Machghara from roads in (El harika) to Medical Center in the heart of Machghara where their was nothing except very old broken house on that lot, and Hammoud Center, Ahmed Villa, and Mahfouz villa on the main North entrance of Machghara, to the Subdivision on the "nabi noun" Road. We want to say YES to Mr. Mahfouz Mahfouz Here is why From 1975 the first one to bring medicine to the sick and to the older people, the first one to open free clinic in our town, to 1982 ask who clean up the dead bodies from our streets and mountains to bury them while they have ammo and grenades in their hands.
We want to say YES to every person in the Karameh List because they have history of working with the public, a history of rebuilding, and they have the plan for the future to rebuild our lovely Machghara.
This is what the people of the Karameh List did in our town for the last 20 years but Mr.Debs what did you do for our town and where were you?

With the respect to your opinion and with the love to the village that I care
about, where i was born and raised. I'm going to answer your question if you
promiss me you will learn the history of the public worker who was on the ground
in Machghara. Go ask the people who have some Knowledge about the town and what
Ali Younes Did for the town. If you like to Know send me your E-mail address and
i love to send to you my life history, I'm not a politician nor candidate for
any municipality position, if you can read, and understand what you are reading,
what i launch it isn't attack on Mr. Debs, i just asked Mr. Debs what did he do
for our town and was he born in our town??? and my friend, if you care about
Machghara why don't you write to us what did you do to Machghara????? other than
sitting on your computer launching hate and discrimination about every person
and family in our town. When you asked me what I'm doing in the State ?? because
you don't really Know what i do here. I'm promoting my culture every day with my
work. and almost every year I go to Machghara to spend my money in town to the
industry where they have no work, they are waiting to each one from Machghara
around the world to go down their and spend some of their money in the town
stand on its feet, for each machgarani who lives out of his village, I encourage
all of you to build your dream house in Machghara. for the Machgaranian who Has
the money, to Invest in our town. it is the time for investment to re-build our

People of Machgahra, you have became your own enemy. I am from Zahle but my
mother is from Machghara and I loved Machghara when we use to go during the
summer time where Machghara was called Machghara. what is wrong with you people?
My Muslims/Christians friends everywhere are in a deep state of denial about
their elections. Instead of tackling the problem, I see people attacking each
other on silly issues.
This is not the time you people, to stir up anti-Machgharanian sentiments. It
is time to ask how, in the twenty-first century, the Muslim/Christians of
Machghara world could have produced a better Machghara. The answers to your
problems are not hard to find, merely difficult to initiate. Political freedom,
open debate, the liberation of society to be civil, humane, these are obvious
remedies. But the ignorance of some Islamic movements and Christians movements
have become a barrier to you.
